FC Koln to open Podolski contract talks

FC Koln management are set to open contract talks with representatives of star player Lukas Podolski, Bild has revealed.

The Germany international has been linked with a move away from Rhein Energie Stadium earlier this summer, but he opted to remain at Koln.

The 26-year-old has since been in scintillating form, scoring four goals and creating as many for his teammates in just six Bundesliga rounds.

The club chiefs are now determined to keep hold of their star striker and are ready to open talks regarding a new contract.

Podolski has just two more years on his current deal and Koln officials want the matter resolved as soon as possible.

“This is indeed a very important issue,” Koln sporting director Volker Finke told Bild.

“Of course, we will conduct talks during the winter. We are talking about the contract terms and will certainly not wait until the last minute.”
