Portuguese giants FC Porto have signed Uruguayan midfielder Cristian Rodríguez for the coming four seasons.

Rodríguez will be joining Porto from Paris Saint-Germain, who will be receiving a transfer fee of seven million Euros.

The transfer is controversial as the 22 year old player spent last season on loan at Porto’s arch rivals, Benfica.

Benfica planned to sign Rodríguez themselves but couldn’t satisfy the youngster’s demands.

FC Porto needed a player for this position as it is more than likely that Ricardo Quaresma will be leaving the team before the start of next season.

Rodríguez has gained a lot of international experience in the last years, and even represented the Uruguay national team 22 times in his short career.
