FC Twente sign Austrian striker Janko

Dutch Eredivisie champions FC Twente have completed the signing of Austrian striker Marc Janko from Red Bull Salzburg.  The 26 year old has signed a four year contract with the Dutch club and leaves Salzburg after five years with the Bulls.

Twente have reportedly broken their own transfer fee record to secure Janko’s services.  They are reported to have paid Red Bull a fee of around six million euros, which would make Janko more expensive than Bryan Ruiz, who was signed for a then club record fee of five million euros from Gent.

Janko had caught the eye of several English clubs after a successful 08-09 season where he netted 39 times for Red Bull. He joined Red Bull from Admiral Wacker in 2005.
