February 28th: Friday’s European Double – 6/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

With the FA Cup getting back underway this weekend, we also have plenty of intriguing showdowns from across Europe’s elite.

As German giants Bayern Munich look to extend their buffer at the top of the Bundesliga table, we also have fixtures from the likes of Serie A and La Liga.

For those of you looking to stick on a Friday flutter, we have taken a glance at some of the most eye-catching European betting tips.

19:45 Fiorentina vs Lecce

While Fiorentina might have enjoyed a stellar three-match winning run on either side of opening February, Friday’s hosts have come crashing back down to earth in a worrying fashion. Watching their European dreams take a blow over the past fortnight, Raffaele Palladino’s men have lost their last trio of Serie A appearances by an aggregate score of 5-1. With the feel of a squad desperately seeking some crucial stability, the Viola have won just a trio of their previous 13 matchups across all competitions – a run that stems all the way back to December 12th. However, although Fiorentina might be enduring their longest losing rut so far this season, the Tuscany-based outfit should be smelling a golden opportunity this weekend. Claiming what was a sensational 6-0 romp when they travelled to Apulia for their reverse Serie A meeting on October 20th, Palladino’s European dreamers will be seeking a repeat performance here.

Although Lecce might have signed off January with a much-welcomed 3-1 win against Parma, it appears that was just a minor boost for the Salentians. Still looking overhear shoulder at a looming relegation scrap and opening Friday’s showdown holding just a four-point buffer over the drop zone, Marco Giampaolo’s side have notched just a single victory from any of their previous six Serie A appearances. Slumping to a 4-1 drumming at the hands of Cagliari last month, the Apulia-based outfit have also shown some recent issues in the final third. Last seen putting in another toothless display as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat at home against Udinese, Lecce have drawn a blank in all of their previous three Serie A outings. Slumping to that 6-0 loss when they welcomed the Viola to town back in October, Friday’s guests should have another tricky challenge on their hands.

19:45 Monaco vs Reims

While Monaco might have stormed their way to a stunning 7-1 romp against Nantes earlier in the month, Ali Hutter’s side have failed to find any kind of fluidity on either side of France’s festive break. Last seen falling to a 2-1 loss against domestic rivals Lille, Friday’s hosts have come tumbling down the Serie A standings. Watching their Champions League adventure come to an end on February 18th as they suffered a 4-3 aggregate defeat against Portuguese giants Benfica, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss will be excited to make a return to home soil here. Signing off January with an action-packed 3-2 win against Rennes, Monaco have won four of their previous five showdowns at the Stade Louis II across all competitions. Despite looking to find a route back into the Champions League spots here, it should be noted that Hutter’s men have failed to record a domestic clean sheet at the Stade Louis II since the start of December.

Despite dragging themselves past Angers earlier in the week as they extended on their Coupe de France charge, Reims find themselves at the heart of a real Ligue 1 struggle. Getting February underway with a worrying 2-1 loss at home against Nantes, Les Rouges have a major battle on their hands in the race to keep hold of their top-flight status. Getting Friday’s showdown underway holding just a three-point buffer from slipping into the relegation play-off spot, Samba Diawara’s men have lost all of their previous four consecutive Ligue 1 appearances. In fact, Reims have remarkably failed to register a single win from any of their last 12 straight top-flight showdowns – a rut that stems all the way back to November 10th. Getting the New Year underway with a 3-1 loss against fellow strugglers St. Etienne, Diawara’s downbeat squad are rightfully pencilled in as a major underdog this weekend.
