February 28th: Wednesday’s Italian Double – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

As Inter Milan look to extend their buffer at the top of the Serie A table, there are a handful of eye-catching Italian affairs on the cards this week.

With five fixtures from across Serie A and Serie B respectively, we have taken a glance at a pair of intriguing Italian betting tips from Wednesday night.

19:30 Venezia vs Cittadella

While Venezia might have eventually fallen short in their bid to punch a play-off ticket last season, Wednesday’s hosts are sat in the driving seat to book a Serie A return in 2024. Opening up Wednesday’s showdown battling it out in the top-two chase, Paolo Vanoli’s men will be smelling the chance to lay down another marker here.

Last seen over the weekend picking up a dramatic 2-1 win away at Pisa, the Winged Lions have collected seven points from their previous three second-tier appearances and they have found a real clinical edge in the final third.

With their recent flurry underlined by a 3-0 romp against Sudtirol on February 10th, the Veneto-based outfit have also suffered just a single defeat in front of their own supporters since the end of September.

If Venezia are to make another second-tier statement in midweek, then they will certainly be calling on attacking talisman Joel Pohjanpalo to spearhead their charge here.

Once again finding the net against Pisa last week, the 29-year-old has bagged 10 goals in just his previous eight appearances.

While Cittadella might have opened the New Year in the midst of their own Serie B romp, the Maroons have come crashing back down to earth in a remarkable fashion.

Putting in another downbeat display over the weekend as they fell to a 2-1 loss at home against Catanzaro, Wednesday’s guests have now lost all of their previous six second-tier appearances on the bounce – a blip that stems all the way back to January 13th.

With their recent struggles underlined by an action-packed 4-2 defeat against Spezia, Edoardo Gorini’s side will be bracing themselves for a real challenge here.

Shipping 15 goals on their six-match losing run, it should also be highlighted that Cittadella have lost their last three contests on the road by an aggregate score of 9-3.

19:45 Inter Milan vs Atalanta

While Inter Milan might have suffered Champions League final heartbreak last season, the Nerrazzuri are enjoying another remarkable purple patch this time around. Only continuing to receive a string of plaudits from across the content and with the mood around the San Siro at a red-hot high, it is no surprise that Wednesday’s hosts are tipped as a leading contender to claim a 20th domestic crown in 2024.

Riding what has been an extended wave of momentum, Simone Inzaghi’s men will be desperate to make another Serie A statement here.

Last seen over the weekend putting in another thumping performance as they cruised their way to a 4-0 romp away at Lecce, the former Lazio boss has seen his high-flying squad win all of their previous 10 straight appearances across all competitions.

Getting their Champions League knockout stage adventure underway on February 20th thanks to a rugged 1-0 win against Spanish heavyweights Atletico Madrid, Inter have also continued to shine with their defensive resolve.

In fact, Inzaghi’s men have recorded a clean sheet in six of their last seven showdowns – a run that stems back to January 13th.

On the flip side, snatching an eye-catching 1-1 stalemate away at AC Milan over the weekend, Atalanta should be relishing an immediate return to the San Siro on Wednesday night.

With their sights firmly set on securing a Champions League return this year, La Dea have collected 16 points from their previous six Serie A appearances.

However, facing what will certainly be a major challenge here, Atalanta will be worried by a nightmare record against the runaway Italian leaders.

Including a 2-1 defeat when they welcomed Inter Milan to Bergamo for their reverse showdown on November 4th, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have lost all of their last four meetings by an aggregate score of 9-5.
