Italian goalkeeper Federico Marchetti will soon be extending his stay at Stadio Olimpico, Il Corriere dello Sport has learned.
The same source has suggested that the 32-year-old has agreed in principle to sign a new deal with the club until June 2018.
The new contract will see the Italy international earn €1.5 million per campaign, while it is important to note that it does not include an option for a further year.
Just as it looked that the lengthy negotiations were going to fall through, the two sides managed to reach an agreement that will be made official in the coming days.
There were quite a few top European clubs showing interest in Marchetti and Lazio officials will be happy to have warded off interest in his services.
The Biancocelesti extended the poor run of results as they shared spoils with Palermo, but they are 8/11 to return to winning ways against Dnipro.
