Feghouli hints at Valencia stay

French winger Sofiane Feghouli has poured cold waters on rumours linking him with a move away from Mestalla.

Following the Frenchman’s impressive start to the season, he has seen his name linked with clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool.

At one point it looked as though Feghouli would not be able to agree on an extension to his deal that is due to expire in June 2014, which only added fuel to speculations linking him with a move to the English Premier League.

The 22-year-old, however, seems to have changed his mind and admits he is on the verge of signing a new deal at Mestalla.

“I want to stay here and the truth is that I will make an effort to stay,” the French winger told club’s official website.

“The club is also going to make an effort for me to stay and we are close to an understanding.

“Valencia has given me a lot. My level of performance is owed to this club and I am grateful to the directors and staff, they do a great job.”

Sofiane Feghouli had a slow start to his career in La Liga, but last season managed to establish himself as a first team regular for los Che.

Since joining the club from Grenoble, the Frenchman has scored 9 goals in 46 La Liga appearances.
