French starlet Nabil Fekir has made it clear that he has decided to remain at Stade Gerland for another year.
The 21-year-old exploded onto the big stage last term, producing some stunning performances in Ligue 1, and he was in turn heavily linked with a summer exit.
However, despite the heavy interest in his services, Fekir has opted to stay with Lyon, at least for another season.
Asked about the situation regarding a new contract at Stade Gerland, the midfielder responded:
“We’ll see, I am not worried by this, I leave that to my agent,” Fekir told Telefoot.
“Normally, there is no problem, I will be at Lyon next season. I spoke with my agent and my family and decided it was best for me to stay at Lyon.”
Nabil Fekir was one of Ligue 1’s star performers last term, having managed 13 goals and 9 assists in 34 league outings.
The attacking midfielder has played himself into the first team plans of France coach Didier Deschamps, making four appearances for les Bleus.
Lyon officials will be delighted to hear that Fekir will be staying at the club, and they now need to persuade Alexandre Lacazette to follow in his footsteps.
