Picking up yet another win on the road and with one eye on securing European football this season, West Ham will travel to Turf Moor on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with the Clarets, coming off the back of a very worrying showing in their 5-1 hammering at home to Everton on Boxing Day, Burnley find themselves firmly at the heart of a relegation battle. Already sat three points adrift of Premier League safety, Sean Dyche will be most concerned by his sides growing defensive issues. Sunday’s hosts have now conceded eight in their last two and only Fulham hold a worse defensive record at the halfway point of the season. Losing the reverse fixture against the Hammers 4-2 back in November, Burnley have also lost four of their last five matches at Turf Moor.
As for the visitors, while Burnley might be suffering their worst run in recent memory, the same can not be said for Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham side. Coming off the back of another fight back to pick up a 2-1 win over Southampton on Thursday, the Hammers have now won five of their six matches in December. One man who has epitomized West Ham’s rise to the top half of the table is summer signing Felipe Anderson. Scoring both goals Thursday’s win at St. Mary’s, the Brazilian also grabbed a brace against Burnley in their 4-2 win earlier in the season and Anderson already has eight Premier League goals to his name.
