The agent of S.S. Lazio forward Felipe Anderson, Stefano Castagna, has revealed the player has no plans to leave Stadio Olimpico in the summer, despite reported interest from the English Premier League.
Anderson, 21, has been the subject of reported interest from Premier League trio Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United in recent weeks, having tallied nine goals and six assists in 22 Serie A appearances for the Biancazzurri this term.
However, despite such speculation, Castagna has insisted the 21-year-old is happy in the Italian capital.
“We recently signed a contract extension with Lazio and he is really happy in Rome,” Castagna told Italian radio station Radiosei. “The player still had three-and-a-half years left in his contract and there was no rush to sign a new deal.
“However, we are happy that they have given the player this trust and given him the possibility to continue with this project.
“It was not difficult to reach an agreement to renew his contract as we have an excellent rapport with the club.
“We are very happy that the president and his staff have shown a lot of faith in Anderson.
“It’s normal that one always looks to its own interests, but in this case the wish of both the club and the player was the same.
“The fact that many important teams are coming to see him is a consequence of the great work he is doing.”
Lazio, currently in fourth-place in the Serie A table, are just one point behind city rivals A.S. Roma in the race for a UEFA Champions League place.
But even if the Lazio fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League, Anderson will likely stay put.
“I see no particular problem in Anderson staying, even without Champions League qualification,” Castagna added. “Playing in that tournament would be ideal, but the Europa League is good too.”
Khedira confirms Real Madrid exit
Real Madrid F.C. midfielder Sami Khedira has confirmed he will leave the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu when his contract expires at the end of the season.
The Germany international, who joined Madrid from VfB Stuttgart for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2010, has failed to agree an extension with the UCL holders, and will hit the free market in July.
“I don’t have an agreement with any club nor any preferences as to who I would like to join,” Khedira told Kicker .
“It’s not a decision against Real Madrid. I want to find new challenges for my career and continue to grow as a player.”
