Marouane Fellaini’s proposed move to Arsenal has been thrown into doubt with the club reluctant to meet the cost of the deal, the Mail Online understands.
The Belgian international is demanding £100,000-per-week, which, with the players £22m release clause equals around £50m.
Executives at the North London club have confirmed that there is a sizeable transfer kitty available this summer, and while they are keen on securing the 25 year olds services there are questions over whether they are willing to lay out that amount for the Everton midfielder.
Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski are currently the only players at the Emirates with a six figure weekly wage, with Gonzalo Higuain expected to join that list should his transfer from Real Madrid be completed.
Juventus had been linked with a move for the Argentina forward, though their attentions have turned to Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez, who is expected in Turin for a medical on Wednesday.
