Manchester United are planning to make a fresh offer of £25m to Everton for Marouane Fellaini, the Mirror understands.
The Premier League champions saw a £28m bid for Fellaini and teammate Leighton Baines rejected out of hand by the Toffee’s last week, and will now pursue just the Belgium international, as David Moyes attempts to add to his squad before Monday evening’s transfer deadline.
If the deal goes through, Everton are expected to spend a large chunk of their received funds on Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy.
In Arouna Kone, Antolin Alcaraz and Joel Robles, Roberto Martinez has already taken three former Latics players to Goodison Park, and would relish the chance to sign the Republic of Ireland international.
It is likely that Wigan will then try and wrap up a deal for Manchester United’s highly rated midfielder Nick Powell, who will be allowed to leave on a season-long loan.
