(GSM) – Sunday’s Turkish top clash between Fenerbahce and Besiktas ended in a 1-1 draw, a result the home team will not be happy about.
Fenerbahce lost two of its first four games and desperately needed a win in this match to stay relatively close to the top. Besiktas won their last two games and hoped to add a third consecutive victory.
Fans at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium of Istanbul saw the hosts lead throughout most of the match, with Mamadou Niang putting ‘Fener’ ahead on 26 minutes.
But Besiktas got an equaliser with just four minutes to go, as former Real Madrid midfielder Guti scored from the penalty spot.
Fenerbahce are now in ninth place at five points from leaders Bursaspor, who have a game in hand. Besiktas occupy third place at two points from the top.
