Fenerbahce extended their lead in the Turkish Super Lig from two points to five, as main rivals Galatasaray crashed to a painful defeat at Ankaragücü.
Brazilian Alex gave Fenerbahce a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute against Genclerbirligi, and added another in the 71st. The third and final goal came from Diego Lugano near the full time whistle.
Galatasaray appeared to be heading for a goalless draw at Ankaragücü, but ended up losing the match 3-0 as the hosts fired three distance shot past Gala’s goalkeeper.
Murat Duruer was first to give it a successful try in the 83rd minute, Emre Aygün did so in the 87th and Hurriyet Gucer made it 3-0 in minute 89.
While Fenerbahce maintain their perfect record after eight league matches, the gap with Galatasaray grows to five points.
