(GSM) – Turkish giants Fenerbahce were held to a somewhat surprising 2-2 draw in their Champions League qualifying first leg encountert with Swiss side Young Boys.
Things went according to play for Fenerbahce when Emre Belözoglu scored the opener after just five minutes but Emiliano Dudar equalised in the 18th.
‘Fener’ then restored their lead through Miroslav Stoch – who joined the Turkish side from Dutch champions Twente – in the 42nd minute. Seconds later, the guests had Colin Kazim-Richards sent off with a second yellow card.
The visitors were minutes away from a positive result when conceding a late penalty that Moreno Costanzo went on to convert, 2-2.
The second leg of this third preliminary round tie will be played in Istanbul on August 4.
