Fenerbahce have got in touch with Arsenal over the possibility of signing Mesut Ozil on loan in January, according to Turkish outlet Takvim.
The former German international has fallen completely out of favor under manager Unai Emery, often failing to even make the bench this season. Emery himself recently said that others deserve matchday involvement more than Ozil, and reports even suggest that the player himself fears that his days in north London are over.
Arsenal are apparently keen on sending the attacking midfielder out on loan. The £350,000 per week he earns has clearly become an expense they don’t need at all given his contribution to the team is practically non-existent, and they are willing to subsidize a part of the amount, having become disillusioned with not being able to find a buyer for his services.
With the need to properly embed the £72 million signing Nicolas Pepe into the team, and given the importance and effectiveness of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, as well as the breakthrough of Bukayo Saka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles, there simply isn’t a place for Ozil at Arsenal.
