A report from Talk Sport suggests that Michael Essien could be on his way to Fenerbahce this week as the Turkish side look to add to their midfield for the season.
The Chelsea man has been plagued by injury in the last year or so at Stamford Bridge and may now need to move on to play more regular football as opportunities at the English Premier League side seem limited.
It is likely that Fenerbahce will wait to see what the outcome of their Champions League qualifier is on Wednesday before making a move for the Ghanaian as they may need the funds from Europe’s elite club competition to secure his services.
There is no doubt that is he can return to full fitness that the 29-year-old would be a fantastic bit of business for the Turkish team and he is a fantastic midfielder.
However, if he does show he is fit then Roberto Di Matteo may want to keep hold of Essien as he could be valuable to the squad.
Fenerbahce have certainly been busy in the transfer window, adding the likes of Dirk Kuyt to the side – a sign that they are hungry for success this campaign which may lead to Essien joining them.
