Turkish giants Fenerbahce have announced that they have reached an agreement with Zenit over the purchase of defender Bruno Alves.
The Portuguese stopper has yet to agree personal terms with the Yellow Canaries, but that is unlikely to be a problem.
La Gazzetta dello Sport understands that the deal taking the 31-year-old to Istanbul is worth around €5 million.
“We have reached an agreement with Zenit Saint Petersburg over the player Bruno Alves. Talks with Alves over personal terms are ongoing,” the Turkish club said in a statement on the Public Disclosure Forum.
Bruno Alves arrived at Zenit in a €22 million deal from Porto in the summer of 2010, but never quite managed to prove his worth in Russia.
He has been linked with a number of Italian top clubs over the last year or so, but Fenerbahce were the first club to submit an official proposal for his services.
Bruno Alves will have to fight for a starting berth at Sukru Saracoglu, with Joseph Yobo, Egemen Korkmaz and Bekir Irtegun all vying for two places in the heart of defence.
