(GSM) – Everton have confirmed that defender Joseph Yobo has completed his move to Fenerbahce on a season-long loan deal.
The Toffees had agreed a deal with the Turkish club, and following Yobo’s successful medical and agreement in personal terms, the move was completed on Wednesday ahead of the Turkish transfer deadline.
The 29-year-old defender joins the Istanbul-based outfit for the rest of the season, with a view to a permanent move.
One of the longest-serving players at Goodison Park, Yobo having arrived from Olympique Marseille in the summer of 2002, initially on loan, and is under contract until 2014.
But his first-team opportunities have been limited with Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin forging an effective partnership in the centre of the Toffees’ defence.
Yobo has not featured for Everton this season and was unavailable for the 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday due to a slight thigh problem.
