West Ham central defender Anton Ferdinand has pulled out of negotiations with Newcastle United, reports The Independent. According to the same report, West Ham are desperate to offload Ferdinand who they think is being paid too much.
Newcastle would have been able to sign the defender for about £6 million, claims The Independent, but Ferdinand is in no rush to leave West Ham.
Kevin Keegan would have hoped to completely rebuild his squad this summer, but so far he is failing to attract players to St. James’ Park. Luka Modric shunned them in favour of Tottenham while prime target Richard Dunne opted to stay at Manchester City.
Now Newcastle will focus on convincing a defender that their club is not as bad as it seems after they have lost three defenders but failed to bring in any.
