Ferdinand set to reunite with Redknapp

Rio Ferdinand is set to sign a deal with newly promoted Premier League side Queens Park Rangers, according to the Mail Online.

The veteran defender last month confirmed that he would leaving Manchester United after twelve, mostly successful seasons during which time he won eleven major honours including six league titles, the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup.

He became the most expensive British footballer in 2002, the time of his transfer from Leeds United to Manchester United, and the most expensive defender for a second time having broken that record when Leeds paid £18m to West Ham United in order to secure his services in 2000.

Should he complete his switch to Loftus Road, he would be reunited with Harry Redknapp, the man who handed him his professional debut at West Ham in 1996.

QPR beat Derby County in the Championship play-offs final last month to secure a return to the Premier League after a one season absence, and they can be backed at 7/4 to be relegated next May.
