QPR defender Anton Ferdinand says he had no idea about the alleged racial abuse he suffered from Chelsea skipper John Terry until he left the ground.
The two sides clashed at Loftus Road on October 23, with the home side causing an upset as a penalty from Heidar Helguson proved to be the difference between the teams.
Every Blues player – excluding goalkeeper Petr Cech – who played for the entire 90 minutes was carded, with Jose Bosingwa and Didier Drogba seeing red in a tempestuous west London derby.
Terry was accused of displaying racially inappropriate behaviour during the game, and the FA are investigating the matter.
Now Ferdinand has admitted that he knew nothing about the matter until he stepped off the pitch, and he is quoted by The People as saying: “I didn’t know racism still existed in football until last weekend.”
“I thought we were past all that here. I had no idea it had happened until I left the ground. It was pretty shocking. It’s crazy, I can’t believe it.”
“I don’t need to say anything, it’s all on YouTube, everyone can see what he said.”
“What do you think he said? Look, it’s with the FA now.”
Meanwhile, QPR take on Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane in another London derby on Sunday.
