Manchester United gaffer Sir Alex Ferguson was delighted with the performance of referee Roberto Rosetti in their goalless draw with Villarreal last night.
Rosetti handed Villarreal ace Joan Capdevila a red card for a foul on Cristiano Ronaldo and Fergie was happy with the way the referee gave protection to his Portuguese ace.
“Ronaldo got protection from a strong referee,” Ferguson stated to ITV.
“It was a straight red? I’d have to see it again but the referee was right on top of it and he was a very strong referee.
“I think they were happy to get a draw, it’s simple as that.
“I’m satisfied with the second half performance as we controlled the game and it gets us to the next stage. That’s the important thing.
“We deserved better as, in the second half, we had great possession of the ball.”
