Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to bid for Bayer Leverkusen keeper Rene Adler as Edwin van der Sar nears the end of his career.
Manchester United will exercise the release clause in Adler’s contract, which is thought to be around €24 million.
Bayer Leverkusen managing director admits Adler indeed has such a clause in his contract.
“Yes, that’s right. He has also been watched, but I don’t lose any sleep over it,” said Wolfgang Holzhauser.
Bayer officials are prepared to offer Adler a new contract, but Rudi Voeller recently admitted that an offer from Manchester United would be hard to refuse.
“Of course we want to keep Rene and talk to him. But if he receives an offer from a club like Manchester United, we won’t be able to keep him.”
