Sir Alex Ferguson is unconcerned about selecting Patrice Evra for the FA Cup clash at Liverpool later this month.

Despite the Frenchman’s recent racism row with the Merseyside club’s Luis Suarez, the Manchester United manager said it did not worry him.

Evra’s return to Anfield would be the first time he has stepped onto the Anfield pitch since the Luis Suarez incident that took place back in October.

Suarez, however, will not feature in the tie as he will still be serving his eight-match ban for the incident between himself and Evra when the teams last met.

Sir Alex confirmed to reporters that he is not worried about picking Evra for the tie.

“He’s done okay. I haven’t decided on that (whether Evra will play) but it wouldn’t be a problem for me.”

Ferguson also said that Evra was his automatic choice for captain, but said he has two alternatives – Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand.

“Rio would have been the captain if he didn’t have that inconsistency because of a series of injuries, someone who will be playing all the time should be at the forefront of your mind to be your captain and that was the case with Patrice.”

“He is not as voluble as Rio but he certainly influences a lot of things and his own performances are very good.”

“The players look up to him. He’s very popular with a good personality. He’s very friendly, has humour and he is a determined lad.”
