Ferguson monitoring Lewandowski situation

Manchester United have still not given up on signing Robert Lewandowski in the future, despite having a number of top quality strikers at the club right now – that’s according to the Daily Mirror.

Lewandowski is of course currently plying his trade with Bundesliga Champions Borussia Dortmund, but they are fearful that one of their prized assets may leave the club soon.

This is because the Polish international is reportedly not willing to sign an extension on his contract which expires in 2014.

United were keen on landing the striker back in the summer transfer window, but their interest cooled off when they signed Robin van Persie from Arsenal.

However, Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be a big admirer of the Dortmund star and has been extremely impressed with his performances in the Champions League this campaign – which means the Scot may still try and bring him to Old Trafford.

Ferguson is set to monitor the situation of Lewandowski and if he does not sign a new deal, could try and sign him on the cheap, as Dortmund would not want his contract to run out as he could then of course leave on a free transfer.

We shall see.
