(GSM) – On Wednesday night, Edwin van der Sar reached the League Cup final with Manchester United. An injury time header by Wayne Rooney helped United beat Manchester City 3-1, which was enough after last week’s 2-1 loss.
Van der Sar had a big part in United’s win and was praised by Sir Alex Ferguson. “Edwin makes a big difference,” Ferguson told the The Manchester Evening News.
The Scottish manager thinks Van der Sar is still an outstanding shot stopper. “I know there are a few young keepers out there doing very well but Edwin is the best in the league just now.
“It is not just his saves, it is his composure and use of the ball. It is good to have him back.”
The 39-year-old is yet to make a decision on his future and doesn’t know if he’s still a pro footballer after this season.
“I take it game by game at the moment,” Van der Sar told Dutch magazine Voetbal International.
“I don’t know what my future looks like and I’m not thinking about that at all right now.”
