Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told his players they are 90 minutes away from winning a record 19th league title.
Ferguson’s men host nearest rivals Chelsea on Sunday and Ferguson is relying on his side’s home form to clinch the Premier League.
United are unbeaten at Old Trafford in all competitions which is why Ferguson can afford to be confident even though a Chelsea victory would draw the two level on points at the top.
“Our home record is fantastic – probably the best in Europe. It is going to have to be for us to win on Sunday,” Ferguson said.
“If we win that game I think we should win the league. The home form has been a terrific advantage to us this season.”
“Everyone is aware of the magnitude of Sunday’s game. We are looking forward to the game and last Sunday’s game made us aware just how big this one is.”
“There will be two fresh teams and it will be a fantastic game.”
Chelsea were 15 points adrift and a goal down at home to United on March 1 but came back to win that game and are top of the form table with five wins and a draw from their last six.
Ferguson admitted Chelsea had the momentum going into the game.
“Their result against us changed things because that gave them a lift,” he said.
“They went from being out of the game to winning and then our defeat at Arsenal on Sunday opened the door for them.”
“We always said it was going to be a very difficult week. Of course we know it will be hard because we have been involved in championship races for the last 19 years.”
Chelsea’s line-up is hard to predict as manager Carlo Ancelotti has been tinkering with formations.
Ancelotti has yet to get the best out of 50 million pound striker Fernando Torres since his move from Liverpool but Ferguson thinks he could still play.
“I was at their game the other week and Didier Drogba played the whole game. We expect him to definitely play,” ferguson said.
“They started off with Drogba on the wide right last week and then put Torres on the wide right. It is difficult to say if they will start with both of them or not. ”
But no matter what they do, we have the players to handle it.”
Forward Wayne Rooney has recovered from the tight hamstring that ruled him out of action in midweek. Midfielder Owen Hargreaves is missing with a shoulder problem.
Darren Fletcher is still recovering from a virus and Ferguson said he would not start despite sending him on as a substitute for the last 20 minutes of their midweek Champions League semi-final win over Schalke.
