Fernandes signs new Sporting deal

“It’s a pride for me and a recognition of my work, it’s a sign that I’m doing things well. I have been trying my best to do what is best for the club,” the midfielder said. 

“It is for what I did on the pitch, but also showed that I liked Sporting CP and took pride in representing the club.  

“For me it is, and always will be, a privilege to be here and be able to wear the Sporting CP jersey.” 

Those are the words of Bruno Fernandes who has confirmed that he has signed a brand new contract with Sporting Lisbon. It comes after a long and sustained period of speculation as to whether or not he would remain in Portugal, or head elsewhere. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United had both made it clear that they were interested in trying to sign him, but he’s decided to remain loyal – for the time being, at least.
