Valencia’s Portuguese international midfielder Manuel Fernandes, who has spent two loan spells at English Premiership side Everton, says he wants to stay at the Spanish club.
“I want to succeed in Spain. But I need more confidence from the coach,” the 22-year-old told Spanish media on Monday.
Fernandes, the cousin of Manchester City midfielder Gelson Fernandes, joined Valencia in August 2007 from Portuguese side Benfica for six seasons.
In January 2008 he was loaned to Everton until the end of the season just days after he was questioned by police following a fracas at a nightclub. He had already spent a loan spell at Everton and at Portsmouth last season.
Fernandes had been linked to a permanent move to the English Premiership but his last spell at Everton was marked by a lack of fitness and injuries which hurt his chances of a move.
