Argentine striker Fernando Cavenaghi has left French giants Bordeaux to join RCD Mallorca on a season long loan. The Balearic Islanders have the option to buy Cavenaghi’s services on a permanent basis at the end of the loan for 3.5 million euros.
The 26 year old forward, who has Italian ancestry, made a name for himself while playing for Argentine giants River Plate. It earned him a big money move to Russian side Spartak Moscow, but he failed to adjust to conditions in Russia and was shipped off to French outfit Bordeaux in 2007.
Cavenaghi did quite well for Bordeaux in the 07/08 and 08/09 seasons, netting a total of 37 goals in 71 games. The 09/10 season was more quite for him as he scored only three times in the league.
