FC Porto midfielder Fernando will be moving to English Premier League in the summer, according to his official representative.
With his contract expiring in the summer, the Brazilian become one of world’s most sought-after players, with a host of Europe’s top clubs expressing interest in his services.
Fernando then surprised everyone by signing a new deal until June 2017 at Estadio do Dragao, but that does not mean he will be staying with the Dragons for much longer.
His official representative has suggested that the 26-year-old should be joining a Premier League club at the end of the season, with Manchester City leading the chase.
“God willing, Fernando will play in the Premier League,” agent Antonio Araujo told RTP. “Manchester City were a strong candidate but were not alone in the race. They are a strong candidate and a great club.
”He had a good contract from Monaco but Porto found out that proposal was inconsistent with their demands.”
Fernando Francisco Reges has spent last six and a half years at Estadio do Dragao, making a total of 134 league appearances for the club.
The Dragons currently sit four points behind rivals Benfica, and are available at 15/8 to clinch the league title.
