Fernando Llorente wants to stay at Athletic

Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente admits that he is close to signing a new deal at San Mames.

The Spain international is regarded as one of the most prolific strikers in La Liga and he has been attracting interest from a number of high-profile clubs.

Real Madrid and Tottenham are reportedly leading the race for his signature, but the player now reveals that he is on the verge of signing a new deal at the Cathedral.

“The Athletic Club is my life, my family. This is where I grew up, where I have always played,” Llorente told Radio Monte Carlo.

“I think I will renew my contract because we are negotiating.

“I’d like to win a title here, but some day I want to experience another championship.”
