Spanish striker Fernando Torres will leave his boyhood club Atletico Madrid once the current season comes to its end.

The experienced 34-year-old forward made the announcement on Monday to suggest his second spell with Los Colchineros is nearly over. The Spanish striker has seen his playing time severely limited under Diego Simeone this season and he will be looking for a change of surroundings in order to get more first-team minutes.

“This will be my last season at the club. As you can see, I am playing very little.”, He said.

The club icon is keen to play at least two more seasons at the top level and several rumours are already suggesting that Torres could become the latest in line of high-profile footballers to join the MLS.

Torres is of increasing interest with Chinese clubs but the United States are said to be his preference.

Qatar and the Emirates remain the less likely options as well but Torres will make the final decision in the coming months.
