Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is expected to miss his side’s Premiership clash with Middlesbrough due to an ankle problem.

The Spaniard was substituted after 61 minutes of the match between Liverpool and Real Madrid, played at Bernabeu.

“We don’t know how bad it is yet,” said manager Rafael Benitez. “He will probably miss some games. We have a game in three days’ time, it will be difficult for him to be ready.”

On the other hand, skipper Steven Gerrard played a little while in the match with Real Madrid and might be fit enough to face Boro on the weekend.
