(GSM) – The Dutch classic between Feyenoord and Ajax ended undecided as the two teams held each other to a 1-1 draw in the Eredivisie this Sunday.
Ajax were the better side in the first half at Rotterdam’s Kuip stadium, and scored the opening goal on 25 minutes.
An error from Denny Landzaat initiated an Ajax attack that allowed Marko Pantelic to score for 0-1 and temporarily silence the home crowd.
But Mario Been’s Feyenoord improved in the second half, particularly when Roy Makaay replaced Landzaat in an attempt to create more possibilities up front.
The equaliser came in the 67th minute, when Urby Emanuelson failed to properly clear the ball and allowed Georgino Wijnaldum to pick up and score, 1-1.
Ajax successfully defend their third place in the Eredivisie, as Feyenoord follow in fourth at four points from their arch rivals.
