Feyenoord haven’t been able to make any changes to their recent form, despite the departure of manager Gert Jan Verbeek. At Heerenveen, the Rotterdam outfit lost 3-1.

The home side needed only four minutes for Nielsen to open the score, although Roy Makaay did equalise seven minutes ahead of the interval.

Heerenveen quickly restored their lead through Pranjic though and Smarason made it 3-1 in the 71st minute.

Feyenoord are currently in 12th place and could drop another spot if Sparta manage a win over FC Groningen on Sunday.
