Liverpool winger Dirk Kuyt has ruled out a return to Feyenoord, admitting his former club cannot meet his wage demands.
Kuyt has been strongly linked with a move away from Anfield this off-season following an indifferent campaign for the Reds, and the Dutch outfit had been touted as a possible destination.
But the 31-year-old does not wish to exert financial strain on his former club, following negotiations over a potential transfer.
Kuyt told NUSport: “I have had several conversations with Feyenoord but we were unable to agree. I did not want on my conscience that Feyenoord would have financial problems because of my salary.
“There were too many doubts on both sides. I’ve thought about it, but it is not the time to return.”
The Dutchman also claims that he has attracted interest from some of Europe’s top leagues, as speculation surrounding his future continues.
“There are many clubs who are interested. Not only from England, also from Germany, Spain and Italy,” he said.
