(GSM) – Former Dutch giants Feyenoord continue to struggle in the opening phase of the Eredivisie season. A painful 3-0 defeat at NEC left the Rotterdam outfit in 13th position.
After several disappointing seasons, Feyenoord hoped to get things back on track this year. But things do not seem to be working out quite yet.
NEC, the former club of current Feyenoord manager Mario Been, took the lead through Lasse Schöne in the 19th minute and Ricky ten Voorde doubled that gap in the 83rd.
To add to Feyenoord’s misery, Bram Nuytinck made it 3-0 in the final minute.
With just seven points from seven games, Feyenoord drop to 13th place. The team that last won the championship in 1999, are only two points ahead of the relegation zone.
For NEC, the victory was more than welcome as it allows the Nijmegen-based club to move up to seventh position.
