World governing body FIFA announced today that the Ethiopian Football Federation has been suspended, after failing to normalize the association’s situation.
The Ethiopian federation (EFF) agreed in February this year to follow a road map in order to improve the organisation’s structure.
Included in this road map was the organisation of an ‘extraordinary general assembly to deal with the motion of dismissal’. EFF offices were also to be handed over to the recognized leadership of the association.
As the EFF failed to cooperate, FIFA announced the suspension in an official release today.
Ethiopia are currently third in Group 8 of round 2 in the African World Cup qualifiers, and play their next match against Morocco on September 5th.
