Argentine striker Luciano Figueroa has returned to the club where he started his senior playing career- Rosario Central. The 28 year old has signed a two and a half year contract that ties him to Los Canallas till the summer of 2012.
Figueroa started his career with Rosario and scored 35 goals in 57 league appearances before moving to Birmingham City in 2003. After just one game for the Blues, he recrossed the Atlantic to join Cruz Azul. After impressing in both the Clausura and Apertura for Cruz Azul, he joined Villareal in November 2004.
After two years with the Yellow Submarines, he was loaned out to River Plate. In August 2006, Genoa brought him to Italy for a fee of $13 million. He also had a short spell on loan at Boca in 2008 and helped them claim the Apertura title. His contract with Genoa was due to expire this summer.
