Filipe Luis rejects Real Madrid move

Chelsea defender Filipe Luis has rejected the opportunity to join Real Madrid, Marca can reveal.

Los Blancos are in the market for a left-sided defender seeing as they plan to offload Fabio Coentrao in the summer.

As a result, Real Madrid were hot on the trail of Chelsea’s Filipe Luis, informing the player’s representatives of their interest.

However, the experienced defender didn’t even want to start negotiations with los Blancos given that he spent several very successful years with Atletico Madrid.

Filipe Luis is far from happy with his status at Stamford Bridge, having failed to nail down a regular starting berth, but he has no plans to join Atletico’s fierce rivals.

And with los Colchoneros also on the lookout for a new left-back, maybe the 29-year-old will get the opportunity to return to Vicente Calderon.

The Brazilian had made 127 La Liga appearances for Atletico, winning the La Liga trophy in his final season.
