(GSM) – Barcelona’s new president Sandro Rosell has expressed his concerns regarding the financial aspects of the Catalan club.

While, he rubbished claims about a possible bankruptcy, Rosell was concerned about the club’s contract with financially stricken TV partner Mediapro.

Rosell announced via Barca’s official website to put a plan of ”austerity” and ”savings” into action as the club intends to take €150 million loan to help pay staff and player wages.

Reports are rife about Mediapro being in receivership and may not be able to honour a €1 billion TV rights deal that runs until 2013.

“We found the club in debt and with cash flow tensions but we’re sorting that out,” Rosell said. “[But] The club isn’t bankrupt.

“This week we’ll have everything in place to impose a policy of austerity to be able to make savings in unnecessary areas and meet very important commitments such as paying the wages of our players, coaches and employees.”

Mediapro revealed last month that it was seeking bankruptcy protection over a dispute with a pay-TV company and Rosell admitted that he had been in contact with the company.

“We have spoken to representatives of Mediapro about their situation because everyone believes that they are in receivership,” Rosell said.
