Serie A returns this weekend for yet another massive round of games as the competition continues to heat up. Italy’s top league has proved to be one of the most competitive leagues in Europe this term which means that a single win can often see a side rise a number of places. With this in mind, Fiorentina host Chievo on Sunday.

Fiorentina have been in rather good form this season as they look to stretch the gap between themselves and the relegation zone. After 25 games they have won eight, drawn eight and lost nine, while they have scored 34 goals and conceded 32 times. In their last five they have managed to win just once, drawing once and losing three times, which has seen them onto 32 points. Fiorentina are currently 15 points clear of SPAL in 18th and they will feel that another few wins will all but secure their survival in Italy’s top league.

Chievo have been in fairly good form this campaign as they look to catch up with the sides above them. After 25 games they have won six, drawn seven and lost 12, scoring 23 goals and conceding 42 times. In their last five they have won once and lost four times which has seen them onto 25 points. Chievo are currently eight points clear of SPAL in 18th, but they will know that a few bad results would see this buffer shrink massively, but they face very tough competition in the form of Fiorentina on Sunday.
