La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Fiorentina are closing in on Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi.
Rossi, 25, is still sidelined with a knee injury and is not expected back in action before March, but Viola look ready to take a gamble.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, they have offered Villarreal €11 million plus another €5 million in performance related bonuses.
With the player’s value decreasing a great deal over the last year or so, there is every chance that the Spanish club will jump at the opportunity to cash in on their star player.
Rossi is expected in Florence between Saturday and Monday, when he should put pen to paper to a long-term deal at Artemio Franchi.
The Manchester United graduate would be eased into action at Fiorentina and club officials believe he will be fully fit for the start of the 2013/2014 season.
Rossi already has some Serie A experience, having played for Parma in 2007, when he scored 8 goals in 17 appearances for il Ducali.
