German daily Bild reports that Fiorentina are close to reaching an agreement with Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez.
The player’s agent confirmed few days ago that the Germany international was looking to leave the Bavarians in the summer, and it looks as though a move to Italian Serie A is on the cards.
According to Bild, Fiorentina are on the verge of striking personal terms with the striker, although they have yet to agree a transfer fee with his current employers.
Viola decided to step up their interest in Gomez after star striker Stevan Jovetic had revealed that he wanted to join Juventus in the summer.
The 27-year-old appears to have been tempted by the Italian club’s ambitions project, even if they won’t be playing Champions League football next term.
If the deal goes through, Viola will have bagged them a true world-class striker, with Gomez bagging 75 goals in 115 Bundesliga matches for Bayern.
