Fiorentina have announced on their official website that they have signed striker Luca Toni from Al Nasr.
The 35-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Al Nasr earlier this summer and he has now put pen to paper to a one-year deal at Artemio Franchi.
The Serie A side had been on the market for a new centre-forward and they appeared to have agreed to sign Dimitar Berbatov, but were ultimately forced to pursue other targets after the Bulgarian opted to join Fulham instead.
With not much time until the end of the transfer window, Viola chiefs were forced to act fast, and had no choice but to turn to their former player Luca Toni.
The towering striker has spent two very successful seasons at Artemio Franhci, having scored 47 goals in 67 Serie A appearances for Viola before joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2007.
It is highly unlikely that Toni will become more than a bit-part player this time, given that he is clearly in the closing stage of his career.
