Fiorentina confirm Mihajlovic talks

(GSM) – Fiorentina director Pantaleo Corvino has admitted that there has been a meeting with Sinisa Mihajlovic, but further talks are postponed due to a bereavement.

Mihajlovic left Catania this week and has also been linked with Sampdoria and Internazionale.

“I have spoken to Mihajlovic on the phone, we made an appointment at his house in Rome and met up,” Corvino explained.

“Then the news came through that his father had died, so everything was postponed.”

Technically, the Viola still have Cesare Prandelli at the helm, although it is now practically certain he will take over from Italy boss Marcello Lippi after the World Cup.

“I was surprised by Prandelli’s departure. I was completely serious when I said I’d bet on him staying, but clearly I was wrong and will repay anyone who really did make that bet.

“The President called me and said that the Federation had made an official request to speak to our Coach. You can’t say no to the Nazionale.

“Prandelli himself has given me the all-clear to find a new tactician, so I am working on that.”

Transfer guru Corvino also revealed that Adrian Mutu will be sold over the summer.

“Mutu and Stevan Jovetic are both support strikers and one of the two must be sacrificed. I said that Jovetic is our future and so we are focusing on him. Having said that, I certainly won’t be giving Mutu away.”
