Serie A high-flyers Fiorentina are keeping close tabs on Gremio midfielder Wallace Souza Silva, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
It is no secret that Viola plan to offload Mario Gomez in January and recruit a new holding midfielder.
The latest reports suggest that Fiorentina are hot on the trail of Gremio hotshot Wallace, who recently shone at the Under-20 South American Championship in Uruguay.
The 20-year-old started 34 league games to help Gremio achieve a third-place finish in the league and it would appear as though he is ready for a step up.
At the same time, Fiorentina are considering defensive reinforcements, with Boca Juniors full-back Gino Peruzzi another player on their radar, besides long-term target Lisandro Lopez.
Viola remained in second place in the league standings in spite of the derby defeat to Juventus and they are now available at 11/4 to achieve a top 3 finish in Serie A.
