Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport understands that Fiorentina are interested in signing Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella.
Viola are in all sorts of problems with star striker Giuseppe Rossi set to miss at least two months of action due to a knee injury.
And given that summer signing Mario Gomez is still not fully fit, Vincenzo Montella has no choice but to try and sign a new centre forward in January.
That is not going to be an easy task, but Viola seem to be considering a bid for Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella.
The experienced striker has fallen behind Fernando Llorente, Carlos Tevez and Mirko Vucinic in the pecking order and he will probably be allowed to leave in January.
Meanwhile, Juventus are not too keen on doing business with their bitter rivals, although everything could change if Fiorentina agree to sell them their half of Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado, who is co-owned with Udinese.
